Overview

HilcoGlobal APAC provided a Total Solution Package to one of the worlds largest manufacturer of cocoa and chocolate related products who was seeking to decommission their manufacturing facility in Port Klang, Malaysia.

Challenges

Our client is one of the largest cocoa and chocolate related products manufacturer with over 50 facilities across the globe.

The client sought to decommission their plant in Port Klang, Malaysia with very strict safety standards and high integrity as a key requirement was to ensure that most of their proprietary process equipment were to be scrapped and destroyed.

Outcome

The client had high confidence in the Team formed by Hilco as it delivered a highly professional team with high safety standards and track record.

The work delivered by the Hilco APAC team helped the client maximize their returns on the decommisioning project while maintaining very high safety standards in a timely manner.

The Client was impressed by the Hilco APAC Team that HilcoGlobal has been invited to participate in other plant closure and decommisioning projects around the world.

Client Needs

This project was unique as Hilco was to provide a total solutions package to the Client comprising of the following :

1) Asset Harvesting and Packing – over 70 pieces of equipment across multiple processes were to be
carefully harvested, cleaned and crated to the point of ready to be shipped.
2) Asset Sales – assets that were non-proprietary were to be sold off
3) Asset Scrapping – all proprietary equipment and assets were to be scrapped and destroyed on site
before being shipped out of the facility.
4) Decommisioning of the plant – all support facilities such as platforms, pipings, air handling and
ventilation units, etc were to be dismantled and scrapped.

Solution

Hilco identified and put together a team comprising of Hilco as the lead, an international industrial services company for the harvesting and packaging aspect, and one of the largest demolition and decommissioning company in Malaysia to pitch our service to the client.

The client was impressed by the Team and Solutions Package offered and awarded the project to Hilco with a very strict timeline of 4 months to complete the job.
